What does ICAO stand for?
International Civil Aviation Organization
What are regulatory bodies responsible for?
Formulating/ enforcing laws regarding safety in aviation
When was ICAO established, what is it’s other name, and how many members does it have?
1944
Chicago Convention
193 worldwide members
When was the Tokyo Convention created, and what does it entail?
1963
Gives Commander full authority to restrain someone if they are putting themselves or others in danger on a flight
How many countries has ICAO connected?
193 countries
Why is the Chicago Convention so significant?
It laid the foundation for modern aviation law in 1944/ standardized rules and procedures for air navigation, and air traffic control
What does MEL stand for?
Minimum Equipment List
Where is the MEL located on the plane?
In the pilot’s side of the cockpit
What does the Grooming Manual describe?
The appearance expectations of Cabin Crew
How long is the Cabin Crew Attestation valid for?
For life, unless you don’t fly for five years (60 months)
What does CC checklist stand for?
Cabin Crew checklist
What does the CC checklist describe, and where does it have to be located in the plane?
Details the most important steps to take in different scenarios, and must be located anywhere on board
When must CC have a passport on them and when must you get it renewed?
At all times
There must always be more than six months remaining before expiration
When are CC not allowed to perform their duties?
When under the influence of drugs/ alcohol
When unfit due to injury
When fatigued
Until a sufficient time period has occurred after deep sea diving
After a blood donation
What are the rules regarding deep sea diving?
Deep water diving of up to 10m = At least 24 hours rest before flight
Deep water diving of more than 10m = At least 48 hours rest before flight
How long must CC wait to fly after making a blood donation?
24 hours
What are the four forces acting on an airplane during flight?
Thrust/ Lift/ Drag/ Weight
What is Lift generated by?
The wings of a plane
What causes Drag?
Air resistance
What is Weight assisted by?
Assisted by gravity
What is Thrust provided by?
Jet engines
Where are slats and flaps on the plane?
The wings
What do vertical stabilizers do?
Prevent the nose of the plane from uncontrolled, side to side swinging
What do horizontal stabilizers do?
Prevent the nose of the plane from uncontrolled, up and down motion
When did the term “ no blame culture” flourish?
In the 90s
What does “no blame culture” acknowledge?
The fact that most unsafe acts are honest errors, and there is no benefit to punishing the accidental perpetrators
What is “just culture”?
Justness is an integral characteristic of safety culture
What is a weakness of “no blame culture”?
Real perpetrators could go unpunished
What are aviation hazards?
Weather/ Unruly passengers/ fatigue/ engineering mishaps
What is the commander responsible for?
The safety of the crew, passengers, and cargo until he leaves at the end of the flight
Who are the last to leave in an emergency?
Crew/ Commander
What report does the commander make?
SAMS report
What does SAMS report stand for?
Safety Assessment and Management System
Where does the recorded data of the flight go?
To the Black Box
How does ICAO define fatigue?
A psychological state of reduced mental or physical performance capacity
What does FRM stand for?
Fatigue Risk Management
What are FRM responsible for?
Providing adequate resources for the FRM program
Providing adequate crewing levels to support rosters that minimize fatigue risk
Providing flight deck and cabin crew with adequate recovery sleep
Providing Alertness Management training to flight deck crew and cabin crew
Consulting with the crew regarding effectiveness of the FRM program
What are the results of fatigue?
Slower reaction time/ slips/ lapses in judgement and decision making/ reduced motor skills and coordination/ reduced motivation
What are physical signs of fatigue?
Painful eyes/ excessive blinking
How to manage fatigue?
Drink tea and coffee/ eat dark chocolate/ communicating with crew/ stay active/ eat healthy
Why does dark chocolate help fatigue?
There is no sudden drop in blood sugar levels after eating it
What type of medication is not allowed as cabin crew?
Any sleep medication/ melatonin
What does OM stand for?
Operations Manual
What are the four OMs of Wizzair?
A, B, C, D
What is part A of the Wizzair’s OM?
General knowledge for flight and cabin crew
Mandatory to be familiar with this
What is part B and C of the Wizzair’s OM?
Information for the flight crew
What is part D of the Wizzair’s OM?
Information for flight and cabin crew
What does CCM stand for and how important is it?
Cabin Crew Manual
Mandatory for cabin crew to know by heart
What does the service manual describe?
How to conduct a service on a flight
What does WUK stand for?
Wizzair UK
What do Wizzair UK’s aircraft’s registration start with?

What are CAA findings?
An important outcome of the inspection process which provides valuable information on the aircraft
What are the UK ramp inspection levels and what do they describe?
Level 1 = Significant non-compliance is detected
Level 2 = Any non-compliance is detected
What must happen after observation findings during a ramp inspection?
Action must be taken to amend the findings
If a level 2 finding is discovered, how much time is allowed to make a correction?
