fallacies of reasoning- hasty generalisation
A general statement based on one person’s experience. It involves using a limited amount of evidence to draw a conclusion.
fallacies of reasoning- red herring
This fallacy involves diverting attention from the real argument at hand by placing emphasis on an issue that is surface-level/unrelated.
fallacies of reasoning- false analogy
A flawed argument based on the assumption that because two things are alike in one way that they share other similarities. e.g. Assuming that both a Tiida and Tesla run on gas.
faulty causation/post hoc
every time you wash the car, it rains, so you think it’s because of washing it. Or when someone sings badly it rains.
This involves two events that are linked where one is responsible for the other because one happens after the other though in actuality, there is no logical connection.
begging the question
an argument where the conclusion is assumed in one of the premises, “because I said so”. So, you beg the question, asking why?
strawman
A Strawman fallacy occurs when someone distorts another person’s argument then attacks the distorted version of the argument instead of refuting the original point.
