Q

How does a wealthier community make the birth rate lower?

A

Women in wealthier communities will often have access to a range of birth control methods, meaning that they can decide whether or not to have a child. Also, the cost of living is higher in wealthier areas, meaning people are more likely to more deeply consider having a child.
This often results in a lower birth rate.

Q

Why are birth rates higher in poorer communities?

A

In poorer communities, women may not be likely to get to their local clinic to access birth control methods, or there may only be a limited range of birth control methods available.
This often results in a higher birth rate.

18
Q

Give a paragraph (or a summary, as long as you know the main points) on how conflict and wars play a role in affecting the worlds birth and death rates.

A

Many millions of people have been killed in wars, conflict and genocide. Soldiers as well as civilians are killed during armed conflicts. The death rate in countries that are experiencing serious national violence or are at war is very high. During war, birth rates are also likely to be affected because soldiers leave homes for long periods of time. Many people are also reluctant to have children during war time, if they have the choice. During war time the birth rate is likely to decline, but when the war ends it is likely it will go up again. For example, after WW2 ended there was a ‘baby boom’ across the world as soldiers returned home.
