System
An all encompassing benefits system, where pensions, benefits, disability included in a largely socialized system. All Norwegians are automatically enrolled into it without paying premiums or selecting an insurer. It’s called the NIS(national insurance scheme)
The government owns the hospitals and employs the doctors, it also pays for all hospital care. But primary care physicians aren’t government workers
Financing
$7400 per person and 10% of GDP. The federal government gives block grants to municipalities to pay it
Cost sharing
Norwegians get exemption cards once they’ve hit their outta pocket max of about $280. Once you’ve gotten the exemption card, you show that instead of make a payment. The exemption cards are divided into 2 groups of $280 each. The first one is prescription drugs and outpatient hospital visits. Second one is rehab snd certain dental treatments

Primary doctors are gatekeepers for specialists and u can choose your own specialist
Long term care
Patients pay 75% of cost for nursing home. So that sucks

Government regulates prices. Patients do have co pays but it goes towards the $280 outta pocket max
