Normal Law Flashcards
1
Q
What are the Normal Law protections
A
Load Factor
Pitch Attitude
Bank Angle
High Speed
Low Speed
2
Q
What is Load Factor protection
A
“G” Load is limited:
1. Clean: -1G to +2.5G
2. Dirty: 0G to +2G
3
Q
When is the “G” Load displayed
A
When above 1.4G and below 0.7G
4
Q
What is the Pitch Attitude protection
A
- Pitch up limited to 30* nose up, progressively reduced to 25* nose up at low speed
- Pitch down limited to 15* nose down
5
Q
What is the Bank Angle protection
A
- Up to 33* bank angle is maintained with side stick neutral and Auto Pitch Trim is working
- Above 33* side stick inputs are needed to maintain bank angle and altitude. If side stick is released, bank angle returns to 33* automatically
- Bank angle limited to 67*
6
Q
What is High Speed protection
A
- Master Warning activates at VMO + 4kts or MMO + 0.006
- HSP activates at VMO + 6kts
- Pitch Down authority is reduced to zero
- AP disconnects at VMO +15kts or MMO + 0.04
- THS limited between the setting at entry and 11* Nose Up
- Bank angle limited to 40*
- Bank angle reduces to zero when side stick released
- Permanent nose up order is applied
7
Q
What is Low Speed protection
A
- Ensures that the aircraft can not be stalled in Normal Law
- 4 stages
- VLS is is the lowest selectable speed
- Alpha Prot, top of amber/black, speed will be maintained if side stick is released
- If side stick is pulled aft in Alpha Prot, Alpha Floor is activated commanding TOGA regardless of thrust lever position
- Alpha Max, solid amber, is the speed with the maximum angle of attack allowable
8
Q
What happens when Alpha Prot is activated
A
- Autopilot disconnects
- Side stick directly commands the Angle of Attack with out exceeding Alpha Max
- Speed brakes if deployed retract automatically
- Bank is limited to 45*
9
Q
What happens when Alpha Floor is activated
A
- Automatically commands TOGA thrust regardless of thrust lever position
- When the aircraft leaves Alpha Floor conditions, TOGA thrust is locked - TOGA LCK
- TOGA thrust is maintained until pilot disconnects A/THR and exits TOGA LCK
- Ball on Stick, Click, A/THR ON, THR LVR into CLB detent
