When is the normal time of delivery?
A
Between 38 and 41 weeks since the LMP (between 36 and 39 weeks gestation)
Occurs within 24 hours of the onset of contractions

What often proceeds the onset of regular contractions?

(The expulsion of the cervical mucous plug and a small amount of blood)
This is also often accompanied by ROM

What are Braxton-Hicks contractions?
A
From the 1st trimester the uterus undergoes physiological contractions which increase uterine pressure to around 15mmHg (practice contractions)

What are the stages of delivery?
A
The first stage (dilation period) - latent stage (up to 4cm) - active phase (up to 15cm) The second stage (the expulsion period) The third stage (after birth period)
