A
A clear liquid diet that is composed of transparent fluids and foods e.g broth, gelatine and popsicles

- provides hydration and balanced electrolytes to patient going for surgeries or recovering from surgery
- it is for patients with gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea and vomiting
- during evaluation of anastomic leak

what foods can be put on the menu for a patient on a normal clear fluid diet?
A
Grains, meats, dairy, vegetables and oils cannot be served
only transluscent fruit juices without pulps, flavoured gelatines, popsicles and chicken, beef or vegetable broth can be served
tea, coffee, water ice, clear soda, transluscent nutritional supplements can be included
