To merge

When one of the following letters: ي ر م ل و ن follow a noon saakinah or tanween, then the noon will merge into the letter and a Gunnah will be applied (except for letters ل and ر ) there will be no Gunnah.

E.g. منْ يّقول هدى من من ربِّهم

To be apparent

When one of the letters of the throat come after a noon saakinah or tanween then the ن sound will be read clearly (as normal) with no ikhfaa. - خ غ ع ح ه ء

E.g: عنه أَنْعَمْت

To change/over turn

If the letter ب follows the noon saakinah or tanween, then this ن or tanween sound will change into a م and Gunnah will be applied.

E.gs. مِن بعد صمٌ بُكمٌ أَنْبِئُوني

To conceal

Finally when any of the remaining 15 letters follow a noon saakinah or tanween, then you will conceal the sound of the noon and apply a Gunnah.

E.g. خنَّاتٍ تجري و إنْ كُنْتُمْ أُنْزِلَ
