Finger to nose
shldr ABD 90* pt touches nose- Can alter start position
Finger to therapist’s finger
pt touches PT index finger - PT can alter where to place finger
Finger to Finger
Pt ABD both arms and touches tips of fingers together at midline
Alternate nose to finger
Pt touches the tip of their nose to the tip of the therapists finger (their finger can be altered)
Finger opposition
On one hand each finger takes a turn touching the thumb. Speed can be altered
Mass grasp
alternate making a fist then opening it.
Pronation/supination
elbow flexed 90*- turn palms up and down
shoulder flexed 90*- turn palms up and down
Rebound test
Pt starts with elbows flexed. PT pulls and then suddenly releases. opposite muscle should check
Tapping (hand)
Elbows flexed and forearm pronate - pt taps hands on knees
Tapping (foot)
Pt taps the ball of foot without lifting the heel
Pointing and past pointing
Both PT and pt flex at shoulders and extend elbows. PT is asked to fully flex the shoulders and come back to the starting point.
*past pointing is movement beyond the target
Alternate heel to knee and heel to toe
From supine- pt is asked to touch tip of toe to to the knee and the big toe
Toe to examiners finger
Supine- pt great toe to PT finger- PT can alter where to place finger
Heel to shin
Supine- Pt slide one foot up and down opposite shin.
Drawing a circle
Pt draws and imaginary circle with UE or LE- Figure 8 pattern may be used instead
