Non hypertensive inter cranial hemorrhages Flashcards
What are examples of non-hypertensive intracranial hemorrhages?
Intraparenchymal -amyloid angiopathy (ApoE)
Subarachnoid - saccular aneurysms (berry anuerysym)
Subdural and epidural hematomas
Vascular malformations Emboli: bone marrow/fat (long bone fracture) Atherosclerotic aneurysm, rupture
What is the most common cause of Subarachnoid hemorrhage?
Saccular (berry) aneurysm Usually occurs in younger patients

What are characteristics of a epidural hematoma?
occurs between dura and skull.
can be due to trauma
arterial bleed of middles meningeal artery
What are the characteristics of a subdural hematoma?
Slow bleed
bridging veins
between dura and pia mater
What are the classification of vascular abnormalities?
arteriovenous malformations,
cavernous malformations,
capillary telangiectasias,
venous angiomas.
What is a cause of Arteriovenous malformations?
cause of seizure or “spontaneous” intracranial hemorrhage.

When does bone marrow embolisms occur?
usually after a bone fracture
widespread hemohagic lesins are characteristic
