Hypertensive Cerebrovascular Disease and Intracranial Hemorrhage Flashcards
What are the types of hypertensive infarcts and Hemorrhages?
Lacunar infarcts: deep penetrating arteries(occlussions)
Slit hemorrhages: deep small penetrating vessels, (vascular ruptures)
Hypertensive encephalopathy: withvascular (multi-infarct) dementia Intraparenchymal hemorrhage
What are the the types of hypertensive encephalopathy?
Acute: malignant hypertension, diffuse CNS dysfunction with headaches, confusion, seizures
Chronic: multiple gray and white matter infarcts withvascular (multi-infarct) dementia
What are hypertensive lacunar infarcts caused by?
a single penetrating branch of a large cerebral artery
What are most nontraumatic intercranial hemorrhage due to?
Where does most Nontraumatic intercranial hemorhages occur?
90% are due to hypertension
Most nontramatic intercranial hemorhages in the basal ganglia
What is this ?
Nontraumatic Intercranial hypertensive hemorhage of the basal ganglia
What is a Charcot (microaneurysm)?
weakening of the vascularture to the brain due to hypertension
