1
Q
Resonance=
A
- Process where the nucleus absorbs energy and rapidly flips between two spin states. Energy is in the form of Radio waves which causes flipping.
2
Q
Chemical shift
A
- the frequency radio waves and energy needed to cause magnetic resonance
- Due to the number of electrons.
3
Q
Standard Peak
A
- TMS (Tetramethylsaline)
- Has a chemical shift of 0
- non-toxic, inert liquid
- low bp, can be distilled off and reused
- 12 H atoms so a lot of energy required
- all C&H atoms in same environment so only 1 peak
