Disrupts membrane integrity by interacting with phospholipids. Leaking of cell components
Polymyxin B - adverse effects
Serious nephrotoxicity, very rarely adm parenterally.
Rifaximin - indications
Traveler’s diarrhea.
Preventing recurrence of hepatic encephalopathy.
Studied for IBS treatment.
Fidaxomicin - indications
Diarrhea by C. difficile
Fidaxomicin - MOA
Inhibits RNA polymerase and RNA synthesis.
