Eliezer’s father in Night who lives in the concentration camps with his son during the Holocaust. First introduced at the beginning of the book before the Wiesel family is captured by the Gestapo. A respected Jewish community leader in Sighet. Despite his elevated position in his community, he makes the same mistakes as the other Jews: he disregards the warnings about the coming danger.
