Newton's Laws of Motion Flashcards
What is Newton’s First Law?
Newtons first law is: An object at rest remains at rest, and an object in motion remains in motion at constant speed and in a straight line unless acted on by an unbalanced force.
What does Newton’s First Law mean?
It means that unless an object is acted on by a resultant force, it will stay at a constant speed/stationary.
What is Newton’s Second Law?
The acceleration of an object depends on the mass of the object and the amount of force applied.
What does Newton’s Second Law mean?
It is F=ma.
What is Newton’s Third Law?
Whenever one object exerts a force on another object, the second object exerts an equal and opposite on the first.
What does Newton’s Third Law mean?
If you push/throw something in one direction, it will push you in the other direction with the same amount of force.
