newton's laws of motion Flashcards
Force
A push or a pull exerted on an object in order to change the motion of the object.
Motion
A change in position over time.
Net force
The combination of all the forces acting on a object.
Speed
Distance travled per rate time
Speed = distance/time
Velocity
The speed and direction of an object.
Acceleration
The rate at witch velocity changes over time.
new tons first law
An object ar rest will remain at rest anf an object in motion will remain in motion unless acted upon an outside force.
Newton’s second law
Force = mass x accelration
newton’s third law
For every action there is an equal but opposite reaction
Inertia
The tendency of an object to resist being move or, if the object is moving, to resist a change in speed or direction until an outside force acts on the object.
Friction
A force that resists motion.
Mass
the amount of matter in a object.
