Newton's First Law (Inertia) Flashcards
1
Q
What does Newton’s First Law state?
A
Newton’s First Law states that until acted upon by a resultant force, objects at rest stay at rest and objects moving at a steady speed will stay moving at that speed.
2
Q
What does inertia mean?
A
The idea to continue in the same state of motion is called inertia.
3
Q
What is inertia mass?
A
Inertia mass measures how difficult it is to change the velocity of an object, it is the ratio of force over acceleration. It can be calculated by Newton’s Second Law, F=ma.
