Watchdog
Watchdog journalism informs the public about goings-on in institutions and society, especially in circumstances where a significant portion of the public would demand changes in response. This might involve: Fact-checking statements of public officials and corporate executives.
Randomized control trial
randomly split up your patients and give one group the treatment and the other the placebo.
ACT UP
sought to influence govt, corporations, church etc.
Placebo
a medicine or procedure prescribed for the psychological benefit to the patient rather than for any physiological effect.
Social movement
A group of people, that aim to change institutional practices, policies, power arrangements or cultural norms through mobilising people for collective action.
Deflationary terrorism
the use or threat of violence by non-state actors against non state actors to communicate a political message in pursuance of political ends.
Inflationary terrorism
The targeted and intentional use of violence for political purposes through actions that can range in intended impact from intimidation to loss of life”
Radicalization
Radicalization is a process by which an individual or group comes to adopt increasingly extreme political, social, or religious ideals and aspirations that reject or undermine the status quo or contemporary ideas and expressions of the nation
State violence
State terrorism refers to acts of terrorism conducted by a state, whether against foreign targets or against its own citizens.
Symbiotic relationship
Originally a concept from biology. Refers to two separate living things that mutually benefit from interacting with one another
Symbiotic relationships also occur in politics and society, including between terrorism and other institutions
