The general climate is maritime. The south island is cool and North island is warmer.

The combination of long sunshine hours, nights cooled by sea breezes and a long ripenning periods. This allows grapes to resch high levels of sugar and flavour ripeness while retaining acidity
What can producers do to protect their vineyards from plentifull rainfall in Southern island in New Zealand?
East side of the island is protected from rain-bearing westerly winds by Southern Alps, so they can use those vineyards for grape growing.
What is the most important grape variety in New Zealand and describe the style ?
Sauvignon Blanc. Wines are high acidity with intense flavours of elderflower and passion fruit.
What are the differences for Sav. Blanc wines between north and south of islands?
The warmer North producers SB with more tropical flavour and South procuders SB with higher acidity and flavours of green bell pepper and gooseberry
What is the style of Pinot Noir in New Zealand?
It is vibrant fruit,fine ripe tannins, soft texture and high levels alcohol
What is the best variety for Martinborough and the reason why is it suitable ?
Pinor Noir with ripe with hints of dark plum and space. Summer tempreratures can be high but a wide diurnal ramge makes it suitable.
What are the two valleys in marlborough/New Zealand and what are the style of the wines from these valleys?
Wairau and Awatare. Wairau is warmer and Awatare is drier, cooler. Sav. Blanc from Awatare has higher acidity with herbaceous character and Sav. Blanc from Wairau has more tropical fruit aromas.
What is the climate and hazards for Central Otago?
Climate is continental and frost damage is a real risc.
