New Right Flashcards
What are 3 keys principles of the New Right?
There is too much state intervention in ordinary people’s lives - resulted in a “nanny state” which attempts to govern our health, fitness, weight and habits
welfare state has resulted in a dependency culture as welfare is charity and denies any social worth for its recipients and destroys the incentives to work for themselves
Free market is better and more cost efficient at delivering services than the state
What do the New right think of equal opportunities
Acts such as: Equal Opportunities act (1970) & Equal Pay act (1975)
Have encouraged women to go to work and leave their expressive roles
this causes problems such as anti social behaviour and crime
