Neutralisation Flashcards
1
Q
Neutralisation
A
H+ ions from acid react with OH- ions from base to produce salt + water only
2
Q
Neutralisation practical
A
1) using a measuring cylinder, add 50cm^3 of dilute HCl acid to a beaker
2) use a pipette to transfer some of the solution into a dimple tray and test the pH using universal indicator
3) measure out 0.3g of calcium hydroxide power, add it into the HCl beaker and mix
4) using a pipette, add some of the solution to a dimple tray and test pH
5) repeat steps 3 and 4 until a total of 2.4g of calcium hydroxide powder has been added
