Q

Neurotransmitters involved in the formation of relationships.

A

DOPAMINE is associated with pleasure seeking and reward driven behaviour.

  1. Sets a goal to find a partner.
  2. We are being driven to achieve this = ‘hit’ of dopamine.
  3. We are driven to form relationships as they give us a natural ‘high’.

OXYTOCIN is hormone linked to human bonding, increasing trust and loyalty.
High levels = linked to Romantic attachment as it gives us a natural chemical drive to bond with others.
