Neurotransmitters Flashcards
What is the function of Seratonin?
Body: Blood pressure control, gut control and nausea
Brain: controls mood, emotions, sleep and wakefulness, feeding and temperature control
What is the function of Dopamine?
Regulation of emotions, perception, motor function, cognition, movement, parathyroid secretion, pituitary secretion
What is the function of Adrenaline/Noradrenaline?
Body: control BP,myocardial contractability and force, airway reacitivity and metabolic functions
CNS: control sleep, wakefullness, arousal, mood, emotions, drive
What is the function of Acetycholine ( ACH)?
Body: muscle contraction, bradycardia, negative inatrophy, and exocrine secretion
Brain: cotrols arousal, ability to use memory and learn tasks
What is the function of GABA?
Main inhibitory neurotansmitter, acts as a brake in the rain, to little and person can be anxious and excited too much, and and too much the person can become drowsy or sedated.
What is the function of glutamine?
Glutamine:
one of the excitatory neurotransmitters, acat as an accelerator of the brian, balance between glutamine and GABA is hugely importnt factor controlling neuronal activity.
What is the function of Histamine?
Brain: sleep and wakefulness hormonal secretions, cardiovascular control, thermoreguations, food intake and memory formation
Mast cell histamine plays a roll in allergic responses and inflammation
What can happen as a result of blocking Adrenaline/Noradrenaline?
Postiral Hypotension, reflex tachycardia, dizziness, ECG changes, sedation, urinary incontinence, sexual dysfuntcion.
What can happen as a result of blocking Dopamine?
EPS, Dystonia, Parkinsonism, Akathisia, Dyskinesia, Menstrual changes, sexual dysfunction, temp dysregulation
What can happen as a result of blocking Histamine?
Drowsiness, Sedation, Weight gain
What can happen as a result of blocking Seratonin?
Headache, weight gain, sexual dysfunction
What can happen as a result of blocking Muscarinic ( antichollinergic) - ACH?
Blurry vision, dry mouth, constipation, urinary retention, delirium, memory disturbances, sweating, glaucoma caution
