Neurotransmitters Flashcards
Serotonin
A neurotransmitter that acts to regulate mood
Octopamine
A Neuro hormone that is involved in the fight of flight responce and is closely related with norepinephrine, it is also involved with short-term reinforcement and layered reward signaling
Glutamate
An amino acid neurotransmitter than serves as the primary excitatory neurotransmitter in the nervous system
GABA
Gamma Amino Butyric Acid. This neurotransmitter is the primary inhibitory neurotransmitter in the nervous system
Dopamine
Involved in regulation of skeletal muscle movement through the direct and indirect pathways of the basal ganglia also involved in motivation and reward pathways within the brain such as the nigrostriatal pathway.
Acetylcholine
Primarily involved in skeletal muscle movement at the neuromuscular junction also involved in memory
EL av
General internal drive
Chat
Drive for cholinergic neurons
Vgat
Vesicular GABA transporter makes neurons inhibitory
Qpcr
Quantitative PCR as regular PCR is only partially quantitative
