Q

Sensory Neuron

A
  • Carry messages from PNS to CNS
  • Found in receptors
  • Carry nerve impulses to the spinal cord and brain
: in brain they are translated into sensations
  • Not all sensory neurons reach the brain
: some stop at spinal cord for quick reflex

Q

Relay Neurons

A
  • between sensory input and motor output
  • found in the brain and spinal cord
  • allow sensory and motor neurons to communicate

Q

Motor Neuron

A
  • Connect CNS to effectors
    : muscles and glands
  • In CNS and control muscle movement
  • steps
    : stimulated motor neuron
    : release neurotransmitters
: bind to receptors on muscles
    : trigger a response
    = movement

Q

Structure Of NT (Order)

A

Dendrites
- carry nerve impulses (neurons to cell body)
Cell body
- nucleus (DNA/ genetic make up)
Nodes of Randier
- speed up transmission of impulse
- force it to jump across gaps
Axon
- carries impulses away from cell body
Terminal Buttons
- communicate across synapse to next neuron
