Signs of a radial nerve lesion
Radial nerve = C5 - C8
motor: triceps, brachioradialis, extensors of the hand
sensation: anatomical snuff box
wrist and finger drop
sensory loss over the anatomical snuff box
finger abduction appears weak but this is due to weak extension
if high lesion above the spiral groove then there will be loss of elbow extension also
Signs of cerebellar lesion
Ataxia - gait and truncal
Speech - jerky, explosive and loud
Nystagmus
- central = worse on looking TOWARDS the lesion
Finger - nose test: Intention tremor, past pointing
Abnormal heel-shin test
Dysdiadochokinesis - rapid alternating movements
Rebound - due to hypotonia
Examine CNs - 5, 7, 8 and look for lateral medullary syndrome
