What is the Moro reflex?
Response to sudden loss of support in which the baby does 3 things:
1. spreading out the arms (abduction)
2. pulling the arms in (adduction)
3. crying (usually)
When should the Moro reflex be present?
From 0 to 6 months - should be present at 6 week check
An 8 month old is brought in due to URTI symptoms. While examining you notice startle reflex is present. Is this concerning?
Yes - this should be gone by 6 months of age
