- damage to extrapyramidal tracts and/or cerebellum
- non-spastic cp
- two types: athetoid, ataxic

- around 70% of all cases of cp
- damage to pyramidal tracts
- spastic cp
- increased motor tone
- hyper reflexia

Cerebral palsy (7)
A
- neurological disorder characterised by motor problems
- caused by brain damage prenatally or perinatally or postnatally
- non progressive
- symptoms may appear to progress but only because problems become more obvious with increased age
- various risk factors hypoxia asphyxia seizures proemature birth etc
- development of motor tracts particularly vulnerable between 24-32weeks gestation
- most common cause in preterm births (earlier than 32weeks) is injury to preventicular white matter

Aspergers syndrome (4)
A
- an autism spectrum disorder
- characterised by sig difficulties in social interaction and nonverbal communication alongside restricted and repetitive patterns of behaviour and interests
- differs from other autism spectrum disorders by its relative preservation of linguistic and cognitive development
- physical clumsiness and atypical (peculiar or odd) use of language are frequently reported
