• Consciousness/dizziness.
• Weakness.
• Speech issues.
• Systemic.

What would you ask about in headache?

Answer 2

• SOCRATES.
• Unilateral throbbing = migraine.
• Nausea/vomiting, light/sound sensitivity.
• Neck stiffness, rash = ?meningitis.
• Rhinorrhoea/lacrimation = cluster.
• Aura - zig-zag lines, lights.
• RED FLAGS = banged head/trauma, worse in morning/coughing/sitting forward, epilepsy.

What would you ask about in altered consciousness?

Answer 3

• Before: how they felt, do they remember it?
• During: do they remember? Witnesses? Groans/crying, eyes open/closed? Any jerking/stiffening of limbs. Responsiveness.
  DID YOU HIT YOUR HEAD?
• After: recovery time. Incontinence/tongue biting, speech/weakness.

How can you differentiate epilepsy from syncope?

• Aura vs. feeling faint.
• Sudden vs. avoidable.
• Eyes open, convulses vs. eyes closed, falls forward.
• Confused/sleepy vs. pale, sweaty, cold fast recovery.
• Tongue biting/incontinence vs. none.
