Neuro Flashcards
Cerebral haemorrhage
Nick stiffness ( extension of blood in the fourth ventricle ) occipital headache and ipsilateral hemiataxia of the trunk
Caused by poorly controlled HTN
Meralgia paresthica
Risk factors of CVD
Pain paresthesias above the knee and strength is normal
Risperidone aggravates her stiffness
Parkinson
Antagonist of dopamine
Epstein bar virus associated with primary CNS lymphoma
MRI and CD4 < 50 for the cns lymphoma and toxoplasmosis but there is no EBV in toxoplasmosis
Headache , binoculars palsies, peri orbital edema
Cranial nerves III , IV, V,VI pass through the cavernous sinus
Cavernous sinus thrombosis
Because it is valveless , uncontrollable infection can cause thrombosis
Intra cranial pressure, transient Vision loss lasting few seconds with changes in head position
Papilledema
Fibromyalgia = amitriptyline inhibiting the reuptake of norepinephrine and serotonin
Muscarinic : anticholinergic symptoms
Histamine receptors leading to lethargy
Alpha adrenergic receptors leading to orthostatic hypotension
In this case dizziness may be revealed by orthostatic blood pressure measurements
