Cerebral palsy
A
Caused by a lesion in the motor pathway of developing brain
Presentation:
- Most common type is spastic
- Increased muscle tone
- Delayed motor milestones in early infancy
- Abnormal gait
- May have learning difficulties, epilepsy
Investigation:
- Clinical diagnosis
- MRI may be useful to look at cerebral injury or malformations and to rule out tumours.
Management:
- MDT
- Physio, OT, speech therapy
