Epilepsy

A

Focal - Carbazepine (sodium channel blocker - side effects of agranulocytosis and anaemia)

Generalised - Tonic, clonic, myoclonic - Sodium valproate - increases GABA activity (inhibitory neurotransmitter) Side effects: Teratogenic, liver damage, hair loss, tremor
- Lamotrigine second line (inhibits sodium and release of glutamine)

Absence - ethosuximide
