Q

client server

A

This type of network separates computers into one of two classifications - servers and clients
A server is a computer that manages and stores files, or one that provides services to other computers on the network. They control the network and allow other computers to share and communicate.

There is a hierachy, higher tier users get priority over lower tier users.
Best suited for a large company

zihans take:

managed by a server, devices connected are called clients

pros - easy to keep track of files/backup files/ and to update or install software

cons - expensive to set up, requires expertise and server dependence

Q

peer to peer (P2P)

A

In peer to peer, peers store their own files, which can be accessed by other peers on the network (like the school system)

In peer to peer, there is no hierachy chain, everyone gets the same level of priority
Also, p2p are best suited to smaller organisations

Q

Disadvantages of P2P

A

Files and folders cannot be centrally backed up

Ensuring that viruses are not added to the network is the responsibility of each user
There is little security

servers hosted on the internet

ad:
- do neded to buy and install software
- lower costs
- no need to upgrade software

disad:
- reliant on internet
- prone to hacking (Security)
- dont know where data is stored

17
Q

DNS

A

donaim name system

used to find computer which hosts website you look for

18
Q
