what are the 5 primary network topologies?
Bus Star Ring Mesh Hybrid
Bus Topology Advantage and disadvantage
Advantage: Cheap. Easy to instal
Disadvantage: Difficult to reconfigure. A break in the bus disables the entire network.
Star Advantage and disadvantage
Advantage: Cheap. Very easy to instal and reconfigure. More resilient to a single cable failure
Disadvantage: More expensive than a bus
Ring Advantage and disadvantage
Advantage: Efficient. Easy to install
Disadvantage: Reconfiguration is extremely difficult, extremely expensive.
Mesh Advantage and disadvantage
Advantage: Best fault tolerance
Disadvantage: Reconfiguration is extremely difficult, extremely expensive, and very complex.
Hybrid Advantage and disadvantage
Advantage: give a combination of the best features of each topology used.
Disadvantage: Complex (less so than mesh)
Mesh Topology equation
(X *(X-1) ) / 2
