Q

What are the steps on how to display a web page?

A

1) domain name is typed into the address bar of a browser
2) the DNS gets sent a request for the IP address of the domain name
3) the DNS will check if it stores the IP address similar to the domain name. If it does the IP address is sent to the web browser
4) the browser then connects to the IP address of the server and accesses the site.

If the local DNS server does not hold the IP address then another request is sent to a DNS server at a higher level until the IP address is found. And then sent back to local DNS server for you to access your browser.
