Nervous system Flashcards
What do neurons have? (4)
Cell body, dendrites, axon, axon terminals
What are the differences of a vertebrates NS?
More complex, central & perioheral more separated, hierarchy
What is peripheral NS split into?
Peripheral split into somatic and autonomic. Autonomic split into sympathetic & parasympathetic
What is the input and output for the autonomic NS?
No input, output is involuntary control (muscles + glands)
What is the input and output for the somatic NS?
Input is sense organs, output is voluntary control (skeletal)
Describe the polysynaptic reflex arc
Sensory/motor neurons connected via interneurons. Sensor + effector in diff locations, spinal cord generates complex movement patterns
