Nervous system Flashcards
Left hemisphere
language learning mathematics and logical thinking
Right hemisphere
responsible for artistic learning, music, intuitice and perceptual abilities
Cerebrum
main part of the brain takes up 90 percent and is seperated into different regions
medulla (brain stem)
controls our unconcious or involuntary thoughts so we dont have to think about them such as breathing
Cerebellum
controls balance and coordinates complex muscle actions, such as running and walking so we dont fall over since it allows us to balance
Receptor
Special cells that detect different types of stimuli, converts signals that the nervous system can understand
Effector
Muscles or glands which changes as the result of the stimulus
Stimuli
anything that triggers a response
Sensory neuron
a external stimuli reciever, and then serve nerve impulses to the cns from the bodys receptors
motor neuron
response of a signal to muscles or glands, causing an
internuron
other words; relay neruons, relay informations and acts like a bridge between the sensory and motor neurons, can appear in the brain as well. BASCIALLY A BRIDGE FOR EVERYTHING ALRIGHT
