Nervous system Flashcards
What makes up the Central nervous system
The brain and the spinal cord
What makes up the Peripheral nervous system?
All the nerves in the body.
What are the 4 parts of the brain?
- Cerebrum
- Cerebellum
- Brain stem
- Cortex
What is the function of the Cerebrum?
Interprets exterior stimulus/environment & carries out complex thoughts/action
What is the function of the Cerebellum?
Coordinates your muscles & keeps balance
What is the function of the brain stem?
Controls involuntary movement
What is the function of the Cortex?
Connects the two parts of the brain & Coordinates brain activity.
Which type of neurons are in the spinal cord?
Interneurons
What protects the spinal cord?
Vertebrae column/spine
What does the Somatic Nervous system control?
It controls voluntary actions.
What does the Automatic nervous system control?
It controls involuntary actions.
What part of the nervous system is involved with reflexes
It involves the spinal cord and nerves ONLY
