Material world Flashcards
1
Q
hardness
A
Resist indentation when objects hit or fall on it, it can resist impact.
2
Q
Tensile strength (Stiffness):
A
Retains its shape. Strong material that won’t chip or break, or deform. (Ex: Ceramics, Hard wire or cable)
3
Q
Resilience (facing difficulties).
A
absorb the shock and go back to its original position.
4
Q
Elasticity
A
To be back to its original shape after the stressor is removed. (Ex: Trampoline, Slingshot, shocks)
5
Q
Malleability:
A
Can be flattened “bent” into a board, a sheet
6
Q
Ductility:
A
Can be stretched into wires or cords
