What is a Martin-Gruber anastomoses?

A

A communicating branch between the ulnar and median/AIN nerve in the forearm. The result of which is that the ulnar innervated muscles distal are actually innervated by the median nerve or AIN.

What is a Riches-Cannieu anamostosis?

A

Communication between the deep branch of the ulnar nerve and the recurrent median thenar branch and results in ulnar innervation of the thenar muscles.
