GOLD STANDARD:
Biopsy and light microscopy: hypercellular glomerulus, thickened basement membrane, endothelial and mesangial proliferation, ‘wire-loop’ appearance; capillary wall thickening in severe disease
Electron microscopy: subendothelial immune complex deposition
Immunofluorescence: granular appearance
