Define the term negligance.
The failure to deliver duty of care to patients, deviating from the care standards and the legislations.
Define the term duty of care
A legal obligation to ensure that your acts or omissions do not cause harm. Providing the correct standard of care for all patients
What has to happen for negligence to be proven?
There must be a duty of care, a breach of duty of care, this must be reasonablly foreseable and the action must have resulted in harm.
What does the scope of duty of care include?
The care given to your patients, giving advice to your patient, explaining the risks associated with any procedures, The timimg of making the decision to act, keeping a high standard of your record keepindg and documentation, seeking advice from others.
What is the bolam test?
This principle addresses the first element of breach of duty and states that a health professional is not negligent if they act in accordance with a practice that was acceptable at the time by the associating practice of body.
What does standard of care mean?
Required level of proficiency, competancy, professional.

What is medical negligence?

Doing the right thing for the right person.
The practice of being honest and showing consistensy.
What is the difference between safeguarding and care concerns?
Safeguarding - victim and perpretratot, theres risk oor actual harm.
Care concern - not coping, need additional support
