- loss of normal experiences and abilities
- e.g. psychomotor disturbances, abolition, disturbance of mood and thought disturbances

- illogical jumps from one topic to another
- words are confused and sentences inherent

- correct words used but with little meaning
- disorganised speech

- lack of desire
- apathetic and sit around waiting for things to happen
- no self-motivated behaviour
