Why did the Munich putsch fail?

A
  • Army didn’t refuse to fire, like in Rome, as Hitler hoped
  • Ludendorff let right wing party members who they’d trapped in the beer hall go home to their ‘worried wives’- Kahr called the army
  • Ludendorff marched on to the centre- war hero- but the army didn’t join him
  • Public didn’t rally + join Hitler
