What was Hitler’s ideology
that the superior race should only exist- based on Darwinism. This means that Aryans should be allowed to live- blue eyes, blond hair, tall, muscular
What minorities were not allowed to live
Jews, disabled, homosexuals
Why were these minorities not allowed to live?
Hitler believe that his ‘empire’ should work and not want to work, so no alcoholics, prostitutes
Hitler wanted more ‘Aryans’ to be born so no lesbians and gays
Any people who prioritized God and not the country must go just like the Jews
Hitler made sure that his population were strong and healthy so no sick people such as the diabled
What did the Germans do in 1933
The Germans in 1933 tried to boycott Jewish shops then handing them over to the Aryans to take over
What did the Germans do in 1935
In 1935 the Nuremberg laws were passed which were to prevent marriage between Jew and Germans
What did the Germans do in 1938
In 1938 the Kristallnacht occured which means the breaking of glass. Synagogues were burnt and Jewish shops were smashed. 100 Jews killed and 30,000 arrested. They also had to register the names.
What did the Germans do in 1939
Jews were taken to live in ghettos after invasion of Poland
What did the Germans do in 1941
In 1941 the USSR would round up the Jews and start to shoot them and they had to wear the Star of David to be identified.
What happened in 1942-1945
In 1942-1945 the final solution was made and that was to send the Jews to concentration/ extermination camps. They were forced to work all day w/no food and then if they got too weak they would be killed by tear gas. They were striped of hair, gold filings and anything valuable. They were then burnt in ovens.
Why did the outbreak of war change Nazis policies towards Jews
Germany invaded Poland on September 1st 1939 and rounded up many Jews in ghettos and then later into concentration camps.
What were ghettos
The ghettos were neighborhoods for Jews. It was very restricted with no water and food entering the ghettos. They were set up to contain all the Jews together and slowly they were sent to extermination/ concentration camps. Ghettos lead to slow death. Many uprisings happened but the main one was in 1943 in the ghetto of Warsaw
What happened in The Uprising
April 1943 the Germans circled the entire ghetto. They had blocked the sewage beforehand so no Jew was able to escape. They burst in with a tank which forced the Jews to leave from their shooting positions uphigh, so they could hide in shelters and basements. They set the houses on fire and ended the uprising
What was the social reason the Germans cooperated with the Nazis
The thought of the perfect race was appealing, the Aryans
Brainwashed by propaganda
Families would get money for raising families
what was the political reason the Germans cooperated with the Nazis
The idea of a saving party was appealing to see Germany great again
They wanted Nazism as a possibility of something new
