25th March 1937
- Told all radio controllers that they served the Gov and had to express Nazi ideology and what the Gov wants them to broadcast
- Content of radio was controlled, Jews, KPD and SPD purged
What was the Editors Law?
- Oct 1933
- Hitler made it a decree that the contents of a press article was the responsibility of the editor
- Now a crime to edit against the Gov or anything harmful to the Third Reich
- Reich Association established to acquire a list of ‘accredited’ journalists

What was the Gestapo and what did they do?
Est April 1933 by Herman Göring
- A secret police that operated on its own legal system
- They were spread across Germany to find and eliminated enemies of the state, people could be persecuted for being anti-Hitler or making jokes
- They did not wear uniform, and therefore people were told to be scared that anyone could be a member
What was the SS and what did they do?
- Started out as bodyguards for Hitler w 240 men
- After Night of Long Knives and removal of SA they gained greater control
- They ran concentration camps and in 1936 240,000 SS were in charge of the Gestapo
What was the Peoples Court and what was its purpose?
Est in Berlin, 1934
- Specifically set up to try people for being traitors to the Third Reich
- 2 Judges with 5 members of the Nazi Party, SS and Armed forces present
- These trails were held privately, and no appeals of the verdict could be made
- Tens of thousands had been through by 1945
How did Nazis create a feeling of being watched in the Third Reich?
- Party officials and block wardens created the feeling that you were being watched for any infringement on Nazi policies
- This created fear in the people
- Lack of political discussions were taking place, they were afraid of being reported
