Q

As Mr. Campbell’s technician, what planes did you look at?

A

I worked on a plane with the registration number N985MT. The first time I ever saw that plane was when I performed a pre-purchase inspection on it. That was December 13, 2020.

Q

Do you have any records of your inspections?

A

I always kept up to date records of my inspections, however Mr. Campbell always kept the records on board the plane. Because of the crash everything is gone. Fire and paper don’t play well. But I do remember what happened during the inspections.

Q

What do you remember about your first inspection?

A

The plane was 7 years old and the engine was in decent shape. It would have to be overhauled soon. Overall it looked used but very capable. The only thing that was concerning was metal fragments in the engine oil.

Q

What did these metal fragments tell you?

A

Well there are two things this could mean. The first one is that the plane had been stationary too long, it had not been used since early 2020. It could also mean that there was a serious problem with the engine. The best way to check is to replace the engine oil and then see if there was still metal in the oil.

Was there anything else to inspect that day?

A

I did not have enough time to do an intensive check of the plane.
