Navara - Inspection 2 + 3 Flashcards
After the initial inspection, how often did you inspect the plane?
After they bought the plane I did quarterly inspections. My second inspection was March 13 2021.
What was the purpose of the inspection?
This inspection was just to check on the oil. If there was still metal in the oil then the plane would need some significant work.
What were the results of this inspection?
There was no metal in the oil. I also did a visual inspection of the plane and engine and there were no issues. This meant that the plane was in good shape, however I still wanted to do one more inspection. Just to double check.
When did you perform the next inspection?
According to my schedule it would have been June 13th, but Mr. Koller asked for it to be done on the 10th.
Why did Mr. Koller want the inspection done on the 10th?
Well the story is that Mr. Campbell wanted to do some flight lessons in the plane on the 12th. He wanted it done as soon as humanly possible.
What were the results of this inspection?
I did the same thing as the last inspection, visually inspected the engine block, the plane, and I did some tests with the instruments. Everything looked good. There were no problems with the plane.
Was there anything that stood out during your inspection?
Yeah, it wasn’t a problem but the total engine time was surprising. The engine had 1337 hours on it.
Why did this stand out to you?
You know how every 10,000 miles you should change your car’s oil. Planes engines are similar. They need to be serviced every so often, we call this overhauling the engine. How often is determined by a manufacturer’s “Time Before Overhaul” TBO metric. This specific plane had a TBO of 1000-1500 hours. So the engine was close to needing overhaul but it she was still kicking just fine.
Did you perform any other inspections after June 10th?
No
