What can you administer for undifferentiated nausea and vomiting?

A
  • Ondansetron 4mg ODT
  • -Rpt 4mg after 5-10mins if sx persist (max 8mg ODT, IV or in combination)
  • If the patient is unable ti tolerate ODT or IV is in situ - 8mg IV
  • If known allergy or C/I to ordains + pt >21 yrs = Prochlorperazine 12.5mg IM

If the patient is dehydrated from vomiting how can you treat them?

A

Less than adequate perfusion
- Consider NaCl IV (Max 40ml/kg) titrated to patient response. Consult for further fluid. If consult unavailable repeat NaCl 20ml/kg (total 60ml/kg)

Adequate perfusion but significant dehydration:
- Consider NaCl 20ml/kg IV over 30/60
