Genes will display characteristic despite other gene
What are recessive genes?
Gene will be hidden under dominant gene. Characteristic will only show if both genes are recessive
How and why are twin studies used?
Twin studies compare influences of genes against environment on personality and behaviour.
Studied through observation and comparison
What is the sensitive period?
Stage in development when certain experiences are most likely to occur
What is the critical period?
Stage in development when certain experiences MUST occur for normal development
What is maturation?
Genetically programmed process governed by growth. Biological development
What is learning?
Relative permanent change in behaviour die to experience. Skills are acquired.
Babinski reflex?
Foot twists and toes spread out
What is the Moro reflex?
Head back, arches back and rapidly brings limbs to centre
What is rooting?
Head turned towards touch
